Ramayan rerun is being enjoyed by everyone across the country during the lockdown. Viewers watching the epic are hooked on to every little scene and detail. Recently, one user pointed out that several scenes were not being shown in the rerun, but Prasar Bharati’s CEO Shashi Shekhar clarified that they were airing the original production.

The Twitter user wrote, “Sir why important events like Ahiravan and Diksha by Ravan to Laxman cut down…. feel disappointed. To this he responded, “There have been no cuts, they were not part of the original production.”

Another section of the viewers had recently complained that Raavan’s killing scene was edited. While they hailed Lord Ram’s victory, they were disappointed that scenes between Raavan and Lakshman were cut from the telecast.

However, it seems with the reply of Prasar Bharati’s CEO to the above user, viewers now know that all the scenes were not part of the original Ramayan production.

Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, an epic based on Hindu mythology, became the highest watched ‘serial’ in the Hindi general entertainment space with its rerun. It garnered 170 million viewers in its first four shows.

The show was relaunched on March 28 amid the gloomy times of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The lead actors of the show, Arun Govil, Dipika Chikhila and Sunil Lahri were happy with the response from the audience. Pictures of them watching Ramayan’s rerun also went viral on the internet.
