Hi and welcome to my Fiverr Review for Freelancers. Is Fiverr a good way to make money? Yes, it is… but it’s not necessarily easy. There’s a lot to know, especially if you’re just getting started.
I’m a level 2 freelancer at Fiverr and I’ve earned about $2,000 over the years (I’ll show you my earnings page in this review). It’s not a lot of money and I haven’t completed nearly as many gigs as some Fiverr freelancers, but I do have experience with them.
I’ll take you inside the members’ area in this review and show you Fiverr’s freelancer dashboard along with the more common pages you’ll use most often.
I’m also going to share my experience and give you some tips on how to make money with Fiverr, and while there will be differences depending on the jobs you take, I’ll also discuss ideas for Fiverr gigs and what are generally considered the easiest Fiverr gigs.
I have pleasant memories of Fiverr to be honest, and although I didn’t make a ton of money, I do there are some who earn a significant income. If you have a skill that’s in high demand, you might too.
In this review I’ll explain who Fiverr is, whether they’re a scam (because I know that’s a question many ask), and how to become a freelancer on Fiver. I’ll also share some tips on making money and staying on Fiverr’s good side.
Here are the main topics I’m going to cover…

Fiverr is an online marketplace that connects clients with freelancers (or freelancers with clients… whichever you prefer).
Co-founded in 2009 by Micha Kaufman and Shai Wininger, they officially launched Fiverr in 2010.
Their goal was to become the world’s largest marketplace for digital services, and today, if not the biggest, they’re certainly one of them alongside competing platforms like Upwork and Freelancer.
According to Wikipedia, Fiverr is one of the Top 100 US sites in and Top 200 in the world. That’s not just freelancing sites… that’s all websites!
You probably know, but their name Fiverr is of course because they originally charged $5 per service (or in Fiverr speak… per gig).
When I worked at Fiverr, all gigs were bought and sold at $5. The platform, a community of buyers and sellers, allows you to be a seller and a buyer at the same time (with only one account).
I was a seller (99.99% of the time). But it was also convenient (as a buyer) to find some services I needed too.
Fiverr has evolved throughout the years though, and by 2015, freelancers were given free rein to charge more than $5 (now a gig can cost up to thousands of dollars). Of course, this change made a lot of existing freelancers happy and attracted many new ones, because most digital services are worth far more than $5.
How Fiverr.com Is Benefiting The Freelance Industry And Businesses?
As the world has entered into the culture of remote jobs, platforms like Fiverr.com give opportunities to both freelancers and buyers to interact with each other regardless of location. A freelancer from India can give his or her services to someone sitting in the United States of America.
Some of the benefits that Fiverr.com gives to both freelancers and buyers are as follows-
1. Services are like products
In the old days, many freelancers would have to cut down their already reasonable prices just to get a gig. But with the arrival of Fiverr.com, things have changed drastically. The platform allows freelancers to offer their services to a wide market place which means, their services are exposed to a larger number of buyers who would be willing to pay the mentioned price. Secondly, through Fiverr.com one can forget the worries of negotiations as the platform. The objective is simple- if it is your service then you are the in-charge to set the price, and if someone wants your service then they should pay the right price for it.
2. The platform is free
Unlike many other job portals, Fiverr.com is free for both freelancers and buyers. This means there is no participation fee or any other kind of investment to be made to sell or purchase services on Fiverr.com.
3. Growth in opportunities
The platform is a hot spot for small business owners who are looking for quality work without being committed to the monthly pay role model. Therefore, it has been seen that over 75% of employers (buyers) are small businesses that like to hire freelance designers, content writers, website developers, and videographers so that they can pay only for a particular project. This means that if you have any skills related to graphic designing, content marketing, or web development then you can kickstart your independent hustle through Fiverr.com easily. Of course, other services too are in demand, but of late, it has been noticed that services of the digital marketing industry have certainly taken a jump, ensuring freelancers a lot of opportunities to gain international exposure as well as good money-making opportunities.
4. Fiverr.com works for both freshers and experienced freelancers
If you were thinking that only seasoned freelancers can make it big in this game, then you are wrong. Fiverr.com ensures that regardless of whether you hold a 10-year experience or a 1-year experience in a particular field, you both are given equal opportunities to showcase your services to the buyers. Every freelancer is promoted in their own and favorable locations so that they get a bigger marketplace for their services.
5. No limit on prices
Initially, Fiverr.com had a limit of $5 for every service but not anymore. Today the platform gives freelancers the opportunity and autonomy of setting their prices on their own. If you wish to keep a budget-friendly price or a higher price, the decision is all on you as a freelancer as you would be putting in all the work. This policy of Fiverr.com has been one of the reasons that it gained its popularity amongst the freelancing community, as it proved that freelance work is just like any other work, it too needs as much hard work as other stable occupations and therefore, freelancers must be paid an amount that justifies their work and not ridicules them by giving them peanuts.
Is Fiverr a Scam?
Fiverr is not a scam. They’re a legitimate online marketplace where clients hire freelancers who provide services in a variety of areas from writing and editing to computer programing and even acting. They are listed on the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) and have hosted millions of gigs since their inception in 2010.
However, that doesn’t mean there is no controversy surrounding Fiverr.
While Fiverr itself is not a scam, there are scammers who exploit their platform.
There have also been legal actions against Fiverr freelancers for some services that were being sold, like fake reviews.
These are the kinds of things that Fiverr has had to deal with, and unfortunately, it’s a problem with most online marketplaces.
For the most part though, Fiverr has an excellent reputation among clients and freelancers.
Fiverr is also a global company with physical locations in Tel Aviv, New York, San Francisco, Orlando, London, Berlin, and Kyiv.

Become a Freelancer on Fiverr
Joining Fiverr is VERY simple. There’s no screening involved (which is both good and bad I suppose).
Here’s the quick version (after you’ve decided on the services you plan to offer)…
How to Join and Use Fiverr.com
1. Sign up to Fiverr by registering an account (registration is free).
You can use your existing Facebook or Google account to get instant access or create an email and password combination.
Personally, I think it’s safer to just create an account because using your Facebook and Google accounts can expose your personal details to third parties.
2. Set up your profile and create gigs.
You can start offering your services to the Fiverr community as well… (remember, some Fiverr sellers are also buyers). The number of gigs you can create depends on your status/level.
3. Work and enjoy your time on Fiverr.
This may go outside the scope of this article but have fun. In my opinion, this is a unique time for us to be alive and offer our skills and talents to a global pool of potential clients. Don’t take it for granted.
Is Fiverr.com For You?
The sole reason to write this fiverr review is to give our readers key information about the platform so that you can make an informed decision. If you are a seller then Fiverr.com gives you the opportunity of working at your terms and conditions. You are your boss and have the right to demand a price for your hard work without selling short because of time-consuming negotiations.
If you are a buyer, then Fiverr.com helps you in hiring people for particular projects only rather than giving you full-time employment. It has been observed that business owners have been able to save up to 30% by using Fiverr.com and freelancing gigs.
Takeaway : Fiverr.com Reviews
In this Fiverr review, we have given you an unbiased take on this online freelancing marketplace. After considering the above information, it can be said that it deserves brownie points for being a fair platform for freelancers and buyers. Fiverr.com’s free and transparent pricing policy makes it one of the most popular online outsourcing platforms.
Furthermore, Fiverr.com has helped the freelancing industry to become recognized as a legitimate and economic way of working by preventing freelancers from charging low prices just to find work. But the most significant factor that makes Fiverr.com stand apart from its competitor is that it genuinely allows freelancers and buyers from across the globe to interact and establish long-term successful business relations, proving itself to be a truly global online freelancing marketplace.
