Famous Chef Vikas Khanna Launches Largest Food Drive In The World For Underprivileged
World renowned Chef Vikas Khanna is leaving no stone un-turned to offer help, in these difficult times. All the way from New York, he is extending a helping hand, and by the looks of it, he won’t be stopping anytime soon. In a couple of days with help from social media, he managed to create a network of general stores and truck drivers to source and distribute food — cooked as well as dry ration — to those in need.
Vikas Khanna’s attention was drawn to the plight of millions of migrant workers stuck across India without food and shelter, from a spam email seeking donation for an old age home. He realized how the lock-down was affecting them adversely and decided to help.
After his last campaign in Mumbai, where he ensured over 2,00,000 meals, his latest campaign Barkat has been started out to feed 1 million in the Delhi-NCR region. Barkat had translated into over 2 million meals. Vikas also helped set up food stations at petrol pumps along highways to help migrants in transit; even reached out to the Shramik Express trains, distributed essentials such as sanitary napkins and slippers.
