IPL 2017 Opening Ceremony: Star Performers So Far

IPL 2017 is now knocking the door as the biggest sports event of the country is opening from April 5. Just like Indian Premier League matches, IPL opening ceremony is also one of the biggest attractions among the cricket fans across the globe. However, till now it is not clear who will perform at the IPL 2017 opening ceremony, but we are recalling you who are performers in the previous editions of this event.

In 2012, the IPL Opening Ceremony was held at Bangalore’s YMCA College of Physical Education ground. This mega event was hosted by none other than the biggest Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan. The Colonial Cousins, along with South African band First Project and DJ Ravi Drums, performed in the opening ceremony of IPL 2012. Later, Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra performed with cricketers like Harbhajan Singh on various songs from her films. Prabhu Deva also performed on songs from his films.

At the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 opening ceremony in Kolkata on April 2, Bollywood Baadshah Shahrukh Khan along with Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone performed live. The international rapper Pitbull also enthralled the audiences from his performances.

In the IPL 2014 opening ceremony was held in the UAE, however, that was nothing close to the previous gala affairs. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone dazzled the stage and danced to Bollywood tunes. Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Shane Watson was on stage with his guitar to sing a song.

The opening ceremony of the IPL 8 was held at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata, on April 7, 2015. At the opening ceremony, Bollywood stars Anushka Sharma, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Shahid Kapoor rocked the IPL opening ceremony with some sizzling performances.

The opening ceremony of the IPL 2016 was held at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium in Mumbai on April 8, 2016. It featured performances from Major Lazer, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Bollywood heart throb Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif, Jacqueline Fernandez among others. Dwayne Bravo, a member of the West Indies’ 2016 World Twenty20 winning team, performed the “Champion Dance”.
