Chile and Bolivia go in search of their first win at this year’s Copa America when they meet in Cuiabá on Friday at 10pm (UK time).
Chile drew 1-1 with Argentina in their opening Group B match while Bolivia fell to a 3-1 defeat against Paraguay last time out.
Bolivia and Chile will square off in this second round of the group stage in this year’s Copa America and the game will definitely give us a lot of betting opportunities. We are now going to take a dive into the betting tips that our team has compiled.
Chile vs Bolivia build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:
Chile showed great spirit to salvage a draw last time out after Lionel Messi had given Argentina the lead. La Roja have been inconsistent over recent months but will be firm favourites to win here, taking a big step toward the Copa America knockout rounds in the process. Should they make it that far, Chile will be fancied having reached at least the semi-final in their last three appearances at this tournament, winning in 2015 and 2016.
While Chile earned a point from behind in their first match, Bolivia threw away a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1 against Paraguay last time out. La Verde were ahead inside 10 minutes thanks to an Erwin Saavedra penalty but a Juame Cuellar red card just before half-time turned the tide, with Bolivia conceding three goals in the final half-hour. Lose again here and they’ll be playing a serious game of catch-up with the rest of Group B.
- Chile (vs Argentina): Bravo; Isla, Medel, Maripan, Mena; Vidal, Pulgar, Aranguiz; Palacios, Vargas, Meneses.
- Bolivia (vs Paraguay): Cordano; Quinteros, Jusino, Sagredo; Bejarano, Saavedra, Justiniano, Cespedes, Flores; Alvarez, Cuellar*.
Alexis Sanchez remains a fitness doubt for Chile, while Bolivia will be without the suspended Juame Cuellar after his red card against Paraguay. Marcelo Moreno is also out for La Verde, dealing a huge blow to their attack.
Player to watch: (Erick Pulgar, Chile)
Despite partnering the illustrious Arturo Vidal, it was Erick Pulgar who ran the Chile midfield against Argentina on Monday. The Fiorentina star was as cool as ice in possession, completing 40 passes with a 90.9% accuracy rate, while he created one chance and completed his one attempted dribble. When called upon, Pulgar was solid defensively, too, making five clearances and one tackle, while winning both of his contested aerial duels. Chile should see much more of the ball against Bolivia, so it’ll be up to Pulgar to get his side moving forward quickly to pry the opposition open.
