2020 Honda City: 10 things that you DON’T know

The all-new fifth-generation Honda City was scheduled to be unveiled officially in the Indian market in March 2020. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the official unveiling event has been postponed to a new date. ACI has revealed the top-end version of the Honda City through a leaked official brochure and it indicates that the car will get a large number of updates. Here are ten things you should know about the all-new Honda City based on the leaked brochure.

Full LED headlamps

The all-new Honda City will get full-LED headlamps just like the Honda Civic. It will be the segment-first car to get the feature. There will be an array of 9 LED lamps and an integrated LED DRL that will add a new look to the car. Moreover, the all-new Honda City will also get L-shaped turn signals integrated into the headlamps.

Full LED tail lamps

Just like the headlamps, the fifth-generation Honda City in India will offer Z-shaped wrap around 3D rear combination lamps with LED edge light and LED side marker lamps. It looks beautiful at night and of course, adds a premium feel to the vehicle.

India’s first connected Honda car

Since the connected car technology is on the rise, the all-new Honda City will become the first car from the brand to offer the technology. The all-new Honda City will offer Honda Connect with a telematics control unit that will be able to show a number of features including tracking the vehicle in real-time and control a number of features in the car.

Also gets Amazon Alexa support

The all-new Honda City will be India’s first car to offer the Alexa remote capability. It will be able to sync with the Alexa home devices and you will be able to control a number things from the car itself. The Alexa system will also allow the buyers to change the songs, set reminders, order online and much more.

Lane-watch system

Honda introduced the unique lane watch assist system with the all-new CR-V in the Indian market and then the feature came with the Civic too. The all-new Honda City will also get the lane-watch assist that will activate the camera on the left-mirror whenever the indicator is activated. It helps the driver to get a better view of the blind spot before switching the lane.

7.0-inch High Definition MID

The all-new Honda City will be equipped with a number of segment-first features. The top-end version will also get the fully-coloured 7.0-inch HD MID, which is another segment-first feature. Apart from showing a lot of information, the MID will also have a G-Force meter, just like high-end sports cars! The next-generation will be very sporty to drive and this is an indication of the same,

Safety features

The all-new Honda City will get segment-first six airbags. The dual I-SRS front airbags, front-seat I-SIDE airbags and side curtain airbags will ensure that the passengers are safe. The ASEAN NCAP has given the all-new Honda City a five-star safety rating. It also gets a tyre pressure monitoring system with deflation alert.

Segment-first VSA and AHA

The all-new fifth-generation Honda City will get the segment-first Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) that uses independent brakes on each wheel to make sure that the vehicle does not lose the rear end while doing spirited corners. The Agile Handling Assist (AHA) works by applying brakes on the interior wheels during a corner and ensuring that the vehicle does not understeer.

Premium interior

Apart from leather seats, the top-end version of the Honda City will also offer a padded dashboard that will give it an extremely premium feel. This will take the all-new Honda City a notch higher than the other vehicles in the segment.

Both petrol and diesel with CVT

Honda will offer two engine options with the all-new City. It will continue to get the 1.5-litre petrol engine and the 1.5-litre diesel engine options. For the first time in the segment, Honda will offer CVT transmission with both petrol and diesel engine options. The Honda Amaze already offers the CVT-diesel set-up, which is also unique in the segment.
