Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) unveiled team jersey with captain Steve Smith, Ben Stokes and Ajinkya Rahane. Team management welcomed the new addition to the team, England all-rounder and the most expensive player in the IPL 2017 auction, Ben Stokes, by handing over him the official team jersey in the presence of team owner Sanjiv Goenka.
Raghu Iyer, the CEO of the IPL franchise Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS), announced Moto India as the new sponsors of the franchise’s jersey, and unveiled it with at a press conference along with alongside their new captain and in-form batsman Steve Smith and most trusted middle order batsman Ajinkya Rahane. The new logo sits in the centre of the jersey, while the colour and pattern of the jersey remain the same.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, Sanjiv Goenka said, “On behalf of the entire family of Rising Pune Supergiant, I would like to congratulate the team’s think tank for putting up a good side for the upcoming season of IPL. On behalf of the team management I welcome Ben Stokes in our family. Steve Smith has performed well for last one year, his leadership inspires and will help the team work together as a unit.”
The Rising Pune Supergiant squad comprises of star players MS. Dhoni, Steve Smith, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, Ben Stokes and Faf Du Plessis. Earlier, RPG team management has changed the captain from experienced MS Dhoni to Steve Smith and also removed letter “S” from the team name’s last letter.
Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) will begin their IPL 2017 campaign against Mumbai Indians on April 6 at the MCA stadium in Pune with a new captain and a new jersey.
